Drake's 'Scorpion' becomes the first ever album to hit 1 Billion streams in a Week
Drake's new album, Scorpion has set him a new record by becoming the first album to surpass 1 billion streams worldwide across all streaming platforms in one week.
Before Drake's accomplishment, Post Malone’s album Beerbongs & Bentleys previously owned the worldwide record with almost 700 million streams.
The Canadian rapper took to Instagram to celebrate the achievement. "New era. New platinum. Thank you a billion times over (a billion plus)," he wrote.
According to Complex, Scorpion broke another one of Beerbongs’ records (431.3 million) by accumulating over 750 million streams in the U.S. in its first week. Those numbers should set Scorpion up to debut at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 albums chart with an estimated 700 equivalent album units, which is less than Views' debut week but good enough to be the biggest for an album in 2018.
The Scorpion single "God's Plan" is also the most-streamed song of the year, earning 1.121 billion streams, making it the only song to top a billion streams in 2018. While the second-most streamed song of the year is Post Malone and Ty Dolla Sign's "Psycho," which has earned 576 million streams.

California rapper, YG has been arrested on a felony robbery charge after allegedly stealing a gold chain from a fan’s neck and taking off with the diamond-laced pendant at a Las Vegas casino. The 28-year-old rapper whose real is Keenon Daequan Ray Jackson was in a Vegas court Thursday after a warrant was issued for his arrest and he turned himself in. He was charged with felony robbery and he was released after posting $20k bail. The incident reportedly occurred in late May at the Cosmopolitan around 4 AM, after a man approached YG and asked for a photo with him but was turned away by his crew.
