Taking over Delta State in 2019, not negotiable ―APC

Political parties
BASKING in the euphoria of Sunday’s victory in the concluded Ekiti governorship election, the Delta State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has vowed to take over the state come 2019.
Delta APC made the declaration at its maiden expanded State Executive Committee meeting held at the weekend under the newly-elected Chief Cyril Ogodo-led State Executive at the Delta APC State Secretariat, Asaba.

The State Chairman, Chief Ogodo, used the opportunity to thank party faithful and stakeholders for standing firm in the face of challenges the party faced during the recent congresses.
He acknowledged that there existed a faction that conducted its parallel congresses in the same manner and mowing claiming legitimacy through a contentious court consent judgement.
He averred that his APC-led executive which was duly elected, was not a party nor did it consented to such judgement and therefore not bound by it.

The Chairman, however, emphasized that what is uppermost for the party at this point is how to dislodge the non-performing and corrupt PDP government in the state come 2019.
Ogodo, therefore, vowed to reconcile and unite all aggrieved party members with a poise to dislodge PDP from Delta State.
in his submission, Delta APC state leader, Olorogun O’tega Emerhor, while briefing SEC members on the state of affairs of the party in the state, congratulated Chief Cyril Ogodo and his executive for their successes at the congresses and for their successful swearing-in.

He added that the new National Chairman, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole was misled which enabled the Ogboru/Agege group to obtain an alleged fraudulent consent judgement.
“Comrade Adams Oshiomhole is a man of truth and integrity and having now found out the truth about the fraudulent consent judgement, he will never support it,” he noted.
He stated further that Oshiomhole and the presidency have mandated Minister of Petroleum, Dr Ibe Kachikwu, to reconcile the two factions for peace to reign.
He assured the party faithful that legal actions were on and about five court cases have been instituted to vacate the contentious consent judgement, adding that he would work with the minister in his bid to reconcile all parties and achieve peace towards defeating PDP in 2019.
The high point of the meeting was the setting up of various Adhoc committees which included, political contacts, reconciliation outreach, strategy, legal and Media committees amongst others to assist the SWC to resolve current challenges and to move the party forward.
